Judith B. O'Loughlin


Judy is an education consultant with over twenty-five years experience as a teacher of English, ESL, and special education. She has taught ESL at the K-12 level, worked in adult education, and served as a graduate adjunct professor. Her work has focused on standards-based and English language development programs design, instructional strategies, differentiated instruction and assessment, as well as collaborative team-teaching. Judith has been a consultant and K-12 trainer for the Center for Applied Linguistics, New Jersey City University, and the University of Missouri, Kansas City. She is a certified SIOP trainer and WIDA Standards and Consultant.

Dr. Brenda Custodio

Brenda has been working in the ESL field for over twenty-five years. She has taught middle and high school ESL, served as a resource teacher for the ESL program in her district, and was an administrator in a newcomer school in Columbus, Ohio for seven years. She received her Ph. D. in TESOL from the Ohio State University where she works as an adjunct professor in the second language department. She is an active member of both Ohio TESOL and International TESOL. She is a frequent presenter at both the state and national level on working with refugees, students with limited formal schooling, secondary literacy and English learners with trauma.
 

The Educational Consultant Team

Both Brenda and Judy ​are available to serve as educational consultants and teacher trainers on a variety of topics related to English language learners. Their expertise on programming and services for ELLs will support your school or district on both short and long-term projects.  They have collaborated on two educational books about English learners. The first is about students with interrupted education entitled:  Students with Interrupted Formal Education:  Bridging Where They Are and What They Need, published by Corwin.  The second is titled Supporting the Journey of English Learners after Trauma, and is published by the University of Michigan Press.  There is additional information about these books and a link to purchase the books under the Publications tab.
